COMMUNITIES FOR HEALTH: A HEALTHIER WORKFORCE INITIATIVE DESIGNED TO YIELD A HIGHER ROI FOR EMPLOYERS

Nebeyou Abebe, Senior Director, Health & Well-being, SODEXO
Kelly Prather, Executive Director, Health Strategies, YMCA

Communities for Health is a program designed to enhance traditional, and mostly underutilized, employee wellness programs through a systems-based approach to engage employees at work and at home by leveraging peer engagement strategies, technology,  risk stratification and evidence based interventions, increasing the likelihood of improved health outcomes. With $8 billion spent nationally on workforce wellness programs in the United States and less than 8% employee participation into programs designed to improve their health and wellbeing, Communities for Health focuses on driving engagement and participation into evidence-based programs by utilizing proven strategies and tactics focused on sustaining long-term behavior change.
