COBRA & RETIREMENT BENEFITS IN A POST ACA WORLD

Health care reform may have opened up avenues worth considering restructuring retiree health benefits.  This session will cover the common ways that retiree health plans are currently structured in light of COBRA; how employers and benefits practitioners might use alternative retiree coverage and using spend down retiree HRA accounts instead of promising a number of years of paid benefits.  Further topics will include how public and/or private exchange-based coverage be used as a mechanism to reduce an employer’s liability for providing health coverage to its retirees.
