PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY EVOLUTION OF WELLNESS

This presentation reviews the evolution of the Wellness Program in the government of Prince George's County, Maryland from a routine service to a robust program that is more responsive to the needs of covered employees, retirees and their dependents. The presentation will begin with a brief history on the financial and environmental factors that inspired the paradigm shift toward a more progressive wellness culture in the County government. The presentation will also outline how the County expanded its program through engaged leadership and maximizing on the partnership with health benefit plan providers by analyzing claim data, focusing on specific conditions, and inspiring employees through innovative events and rewards. Examples of the County's Return on Investment (ROI) and future goals are provided, along with specific examples of highly successful Wellness Program events.
