DEVELOPING A COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATIONS PLAN AMID BENEFITS OUTSOURCING

Kevin Lumsdon, Associate Partner, AON HEWITT

Given all of the administrative requirements and legal complexities in today's benefits environment, more and more employers are outsourcing their employee benefits administration as a new reality. Once the decision is made, often times the technical requirements associated with an outsourcing implementation overshadow effectively communicating the initiative to the employees and HR staff.  Whether you are still in the decision-making stage or have already started outsourcing, a comprehensive outsourcing communications plan is critically important to the initiative's initial and future success.  Hawaiian Airline’s Ed Bray has been responsible for leading two major corporate employee benefits outsourcing initiatives. In each he had the responsibility of effectively communicating the outsourced initiative to the HR staff and employees. This session will offer step-by-step best practices in communicating with employees once the decision to outsource is made.
