Accelerating Value: More For Your Money With Outcomes-Based Contracting
Cyndy Nayer, CEO, CENTER FOR HEALTH VALUE INNOVATION

Imagine that the football team includes players who are focused on differing goals: some are focused on getting the ball to the end-zone, but another may be focused just on running yards.). With competing goals, the team becomes inefficient, running too many plays, accruing too many mistakes (fouls), and sometimes even running the wrong direction. Now, imagine if the team had aligned goals: they are engaged, intent on scoring touchdowns and winning the game. Of course, the team works as a unit. Yet health care does not--competing forces are everywhere, and decisions often do include the consumer or patient. Re-aligning the incentives so that every stakeholder, including the consumer-patient, is focused on the end-game of health improvement means that efficiencies are maximized (no off-sides), appropriate tools and personnel are used (no camera-ready shots), and scores are elevated--health promotion. Engagement of all the players is attained, and the game is won. This session will deliver on the message of outcomes-based contracting: aligning goals and incentives for the team win.

3:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
