HOW DENTAL BENEFITS SAFEGUARD EMPLOYEES' WHOLE HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Dr. John Cunningham, President, DIRECT DENTAL PLANS
Roger S. Schultz, CLU, Principal, SIMPLE, LLC

This discussion will cover the importance to one’s health of periodic dental exams and the use of a contemporary dental benefit plan design that facilitates the necessary exams and treatment for a patient. Dental benefit plans are key to the early detection of whole body diseases. Early detection will make a major difference in a person’s health and medical expenses. Equally important is the awareness of a dental plan design that eliminates most of the 65 “rules” in traditional dental plans such as excluded procedures, frequency limits, age limits, and low annual maximums that limit reimbursable care. In addition, educating the employees on the importance of at least one dental visit per year and the limiting of dental x-rays are keys to maximizing the overall health of employees and their dependents. Over 35% of people covered by a dental plan do not see a dentist once a year.
